Alexandra has been working as a general psychologist since 2010. Throughout her career she has worked around Australia in a range of regional, remote and urban settings, and worked with clients across the lifespan for government, private and not for profit sectors.
Alexandra is particularly passionate about working with clients during the perinatal period. She understands the potential for parents to simultaneously experience profound vulnerability and wonder at entering this season of life. She is committed to nurturing individuals to hold a range of experiences and to explore ways to find freedom from suffering whilst also learning to accept painful experiences as part of the human condition.
Alexandra uses an integrative evidence based therapy approach, some of which include Cognitive Behavioural Therapy(CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy(ACT), Solution Focused Therapy, Motivational Interviewing and Mindfulness based interventions. Where clinically appropriate, mindfulness underpins her approach in supporting clients to navigate and make sense of their current experience and to understand the impermanence of both pleasant and unpleasant life experiences. Alexandra holds the therapeutic relationship at the forefront of any engagement with clients and is committed to ongoing professional development to further support them on their journey towards therapy goals.
